Abstract

879,919. Shaft couplings. LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd., JOSEPH. June 3, 1960 [July 22, 1959], No. 25105/59. Class 80 (2). Coaxial shafts, particularly for use in the drive of an ignition distributer rotor, are coupled by an intermediate collar 4 of sintered iron slidable on an oval-section part of one shaft 5 into abutment with a shoulder 11 thereof. The collar has facial dogs 6 drivingly engaging the other shaft (not shown), and slots 7 accommodating a pin 8 extending through a radial bore in the shaft 5. Pin 8 is retained radially by a helical spring 9 located between the dogs 6, which project radially beyond the collar, and shoulders 10 formed adjacent the base of the slots. The depth of the slots is such as to allow slight axial play of the collar between the shoulder 11 and the pin 8.
