Abstract
893,039. Shaft couplings. AUSTIN MOTOR CO. Ltd. May 10, 1960 [Aug. 19, 1959], No. 28294/59. Class 80 (2). In a shaft coupling, particularly for connecting the spindle of an I.C. engine distributer to the cam-shaft, the end of the spindle 1 enters a socket at the end of the cam-shaft 8 and is retained in position by a pair of spaced resilient 0-rings 4, 6 which are compressed axially by a nut 2 on the end of the socket portion and sleeves 3, 10, the consequent radial expansion of the rings causing them to exert a frictional grip on the shafts. A pin 13 projecting from the socket engages a slot 14 at the end of shaft 1 to lock the shafts in the desired angular relationship.
