Abstract
879,665. Reciprocating pumps. HOLLEY CARBURETOR CO. June 30, 1958 [Oct. 7, 1957], No. 20839/58. Class 102(1). In a piston type pump, capable of simultaneously delivering two kinds of liquids of different pressures, a drive shaft 30 oscillates a yoke 14 about a pivot 16. The yoke 14 is connected to the pistons 38 and 40 by pull rods 50 and springs 62 urge the pistons in a direction to establish pressure in the pumping chambers 46 and 48. Liquid is admitted through check valves into the pumping chambers 46 and 48 whilst one or other of the pistons maintains a predetermined pressure of liquid at the outlet of the pump. A second independent pumping cylinder 90 in which the piston 92 is reciprocated by a block 26 against which the stem 95 is pressed by a spring 93. Liquid is admitted through the check valve 100 and discharged through the check valve 106. The pistons 38 and 46 may be employed to pump fuel to an internal combustion engine and the piston 92 may operate to pump lubricating oil, different delivery pressures being obtained by using appropriate springs. The piston 92 may also be loaded by the delivery pressure developed in the chambers 46 and 48.
