Abstract
879,619. Fastening railway rails. SONNEVILLE, R. P. Feb. 11, 1960 [Feb. 18, 1959], No. 4888/60. Class 104 (2). In a resilient rail fastener in which a spring steel blade 1 bears at one end 2 on a sleeper T and at its other end 3 along a first contact line a adjacent the rail web 4 and which upon tightening bears along a second line of contact b adjacent the edge of the rail flange the portion of the blade bearing on the rail flange is bent so as to have an arcuate profile of large radius the centre of which is located at the intersection o of a first line perpendicular to the plane of the rail flange at the first line of contact a and a second line perpendicular to the rail flange at the second line of contact b. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), the end of the blade bearing on the sleeper is formed with a loop from which an arm, underlying the blade, extends to bear against the edge of the rail flange.
