808,468. Fastening railway rails. SONNEVILLE, R., and EYMERY H. GIROUD-. July 19, 1957 [Oct. 4, 1956], No. 22921/57. Class 104 (2). [Also in Group XXV] A device for securing a permanent-way rail R, Fig. 1, to its support T comprises, in combination, a sole-piece S of variable resilience, inserted between the rail and its support, and a spring-blade A engaging the rail flange at its end c<SP>1</SP>, and having an intermediate abutment c<SP>2</SP>, engaged by the flange as the rail rises during resilient recovery of the sole-piece. The blade may be the head of a spike 3 against which the flange-side abuts. In a modification, the blade is arranged longitudinally of the rail. In another arrangement, the blade abuts the rail support at its other end and is clamped toward the support by a bolt. In yet another arrangement, the blade A3, Fig. 7, is clamped by bolt B and has parallel limbs 9, 10 interconnected by loop 11. The intermediate abutment c<SP>2</SP> is formed by pressing the sides of the blade at 13. In a still further arrangement either the end or intermediate abutment is formed by a strip of metal clamped across the blade.
