Abstract
879,020. Refrigerators. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. July 27, 1960 [Aug. 7 1959], No. 26106/60. Class 29 A refrigerator has a condenser 44 adjacent to the outer surface of one of the side walls 30, a thin outer wall 46 extending over and around and forming a duct for the condenser and extending to the outer face of the refrigerator door 22, an evaporator 52 adjacent to the inner surface of the side wall 30, and a forwardly removable shelf 40 extending between the evaporator 52 and the opposite side wall 28, the door 22 having hinges 26 located beyond its edges in alignment with the thin outer wall 46, the door having inner door shelves 38 extending when in the 90 degrees open position just short of the removable shelf 44 when extended forwardly from the interior of the cabinet. A fan 58 draws air from the top of the refrigerated compartment 42 and forces it downwardly over the evaporator 52 and out through one or more openings 60 at the bottom of a partition 56. A vertical illuminating light 72 is provided directly in front of the evaporator 52. The condenser is ventilated by openings formed in the corrugated front 50 of the outer wall 46.
