Abstract

878,439. Hinges and pivots. PARECHOC S.A. March 25, 1960 [April 23, 1959], No. 10669/60. Class 65(2). [Also in Group XXXIV] A pivot bearing 3 is axially displaceable in a casing 2 under the action of a spring 4 which also acts through the bearing 3 on the casing, the latter being in turn radially displaceable in the interior of a support 1. The bearing 3 is a ruby and is formed with a segmental spherical surface 11 bearing against a frusto-conical seat 12 in the casing. The casing has a first segmental spherical surface 8 with its centre at the point 9 bearing on a frusto-conical seat 7 on a ring 6 and a second segmental spherical surface 10 which guides the casing as it moves in the support 1. The seats 7 and 12 may be formed as other surfaces of revolution, e.g. as part-spherical surfaces. The pivot bearing may be used in clocks or small measuring instruments.
