949,622. Yielding bearing supports. SEITZ & CO. Juno 7, 1960 [June 11, 1959], No. 19904/60. Heading F2A. A shock-absorbing bearing has a jewel 8 axially and radially movable within a housing 1. The jewel is spring-urged against bearing and centralizing faces 6, 7 in the housing. The jewel 8 has a conical recess 11 to receive a conical pivot which passes with clearance through a bore 2 in the housing 1. In an embodiment, as shown in Fig. 1, the jewel 8 has a ring 9 force-fitted thereto and this ring is abutted by one end of the spring 14, the other end of which abuts a cover 4 screwably attached to the housing 1. Other embodiments described in the Specification include the replacing of the ring 9 by an annular jewel or by stepping the jewel 8 so that the spring surrounds the reduced portion ; the cover may be riveted or force-fitted ; the spring may be tapered and may be rectangular in section.
