Abstract

809,387. Yielding bearing supports. ISICO S.A. Dec. 18, 1956 [Dec. 30. 1955; Feb. 21, 1956], No. 38580/56. Class 12 (1). ). A bearing for the shaft 11 of a measuring instrument comprises a stone 3 resiliently mounted in a housing 1 so that it may slide axially and tilt in order to absorb axial and radial shocks which the shaft 11 may undergo. The stone 3 is in the shape of a truncated cone and has a conical depression 4 which receives the conical end lla of the shaft 11. At the upper end, the stone 3 abuts a shoulder la on the housing 1. A helical spring 6 acts on the stone 3, through an intermediate washer 9, and is engaged at the opposite end by a plug 7. In a modification, shown in Fig. 3, the stone is cylindrical and the upper inner surface of the housing is of truncated conical form.
