Abstract

880,905. Bearings. SEITZ & CO. Nov. 4, 1957 [Nov. 5, 1956], No. 34352/57. Class 12 (1). A shock-absorbing bearing comprises a spring- pressed bearing element 5 located in a bore 3 of a body member 1 and adapted to receive a shaft pivot 7, a screwed plug 11, having a cylindrical extension 12, also being located in the member 1 so that it can be set in a position in which it holds the bearing element 5 immobile against the conical face 2 in the end of the bore 3. The bearing element 5 is held coaxial with respect to the bearing body 1 by means of a member 9 located in the bore 3. After the bearing element 5 has been clamped in its immobile position, the correct clearance with respect to the shaft pivot 7 is set by rotation of the body 1 which is screwed in a housing 15. The bearing element 5 is then unclamped by unscrewing the plug 11. The internal rim 1a may be formed by a pierced element of synthetic corundum or metallic setting carrying a pierced jewel. In a modification, a pierced bearing element 5a, Fig. 3, is provided, and in a further modification, the bearing comprises a pierced jewel 5b and a cap jewel 5c set in the bottom of a sliding member 9a.
