936,301. Linear-dimension gauges. R. WADSWORTH. Dec. 24, 1959, No. 43803/59. Class 106 (2). [Also in Group XX] Instruments employing a graduated beam such as vernier calipers and height and depth gauges, have a blade spring 4 interposed between an inner face of a slidable member 2 and an edge of the beam 1, the spring 4 having cranked, curved or hooked ends 5 which detachably clip into correspondingly shaped seats 6 formed by open-ended recesses in the two opposite end faces of member 2. A screw 8 bears on the spring 4, which may be of undulating form. Springs 4 may be provided on both vernier member 2 and a fine adjustment mechanism 3.
