Abstract

878,038. Ventilation. H. R. ELECTRIC MOTORS (NEWHAVEN) Ltd. May 20, 1958 [May 20, 1957], No. 16012/57. Class 137 A window demisting device comprises a tubular duct, an electrically operated blower at one end thereof, and an electrical heating unit mounted in the duct, one wall of the duct having spaced apart outlet openings and a plurality of deflectors which present gradually tapering surfaces projecting into the duct to regulate the discharge of air through the outlet openings. As shown, a tubular duct 1 of rectangular cross-section has a blower 2 at one end and, between the blower and the duct a heating unit 13 having a heating coil 15. Outlet openings 17 in the form of slots are provided on one wall of the duct and each slot has a conical depression 18 at either end to create turbulence of the air stream passing along the duct. A number of depressions may be formed in the duct between the blower and the nearest outlet. The device may be fixed at the bottom edge of a shop window and a control box 32 may be mounted in an easily accessible position remote from the device. Hot or cold air may be blown from the outlets. The Provisional Specification also refers to the use of the device for air conditioning. Specification 878,039 is referred to.
