Abstract

Ore briquettes are made by mixing ore, hard coal or brown coal, and hydrate of lime and/or hydrate of magnesium, and pressing with a pressure above 1,000 kg/cm2 to form briquettes. The proportions may be:- .Fine ore.40-65% .Coal.25-45% .Basic flux.5-15% Additional basic flux material other than calcium and magnesium hydrates, may be included in the briquette composition. The process is applicable to ores of iron, manganese, and chromium, and to slags with a non-porous metalliferous content. Hard coal mixed with brown coal may be used in the composition.
