Abstract

876,546. Liquid-pressure engines. DENTATUS A.B. June 2, 1959 [June 24, 1958], No. 18812/59. Class 69 (2). [Also in Groups XXVI and XXVIII] A liquid-pressure engine comprises a stationary central valve member, having axial inlet and outlet conduits 15, 16, on which is rotatably mounted a cylinder block 17 and a ring 4, the axis 5 of the ring being eccentric to the axis 11 of the valve and block. Radially arranged pistons 19 are housed in the cylinder block and a ball 21 is provided between each piston and the ring, the pistons being urged outwards by springs 23. The pistons are provided with concave recesses 22 to receive the balls or this recess may be provided in the ring. The balls act as locking members between the pistons and rings such that on rotation of the cylinder block or ring both members will rotate together. Means may be provided for manually adjusting the eccentricity of the ring and cylinder block from a positive valve to a negative valve thus varying the stroke of the pistons. In a modification the pistons are formed as balls which themselves also act as the locking members.
