Abstract

564,363. Pumps and compressors. FORD, R. C. Feb. 20, 1943, No. 2854. [Classes 8 (i) and. 102 (i)] A. multiple pump or compressor comprises two annular series of pump &c. units 2 in a, stationary housing in parallel planes about a central axis, one at each side of a cam 8 rotating about the axis in engagement, e.g. through rollers 13 with cross-heads 4 connecting the plungers of the two sets of units ; the adjacent cross-heads are arranged in sliding contact, with or without anti-friction balls or rollers ; the pump barrels 3 are formed as holes through fixed plates 5 in the cylindrical housing, and the inlet and outlet valve chambers are formed by annular ducts 16, 17 communicating with the units.
