Abstract

A diagnostic composition for the detection of ketones comprises a water-soluble nitroprusside, usually sodium, a di-acid phosphate, a mono-acid phosphate and an amino acetic acid or phosphate thereof in proportions giving a solution with pH 6.5 to 7.5. The solution is used to impregnate a bibulous carrier. Potassium salts may be used instead of sodium salts. Specification 651,448, 667,715 and U.S.A. Specification 2,186,902 are referred to.
