875,226. Clamps. EASTERN GAS BOARD, and WILSON, J. L. Aug. 27, 1958 [Sept. 24, 1957], No. 30004/57. Class 61. A clamp for holding and positioning the two pivotal arms of a steel rule at a set angle to one another comprises a jig member adapted to engage the two arms of the rule and a clamping piece co-operating with the jig member. As shown, portions of the inclined sides 2, 3 of the plater-like jig member 1 are provided with lugs 7, 8 for retaining the arms 5, 6 of the rule at right angles. A slot 9 is cut centrally of the member 1 and below the slot there is provided a centrally drilled projecting lug 10. The triangular plate-like clamping piece 11 has a threaded stud 12 which is passed through the slot 9 and has secured thereto a nut 13 which is drilled and threaded at right angles to the stud to allow a screw 14 passing through the lug 10 to threadedly engage with the nut 13 whereby rotation of the screw 14 will move the clamping piece 11 relatively to the jig member 1. A set of jig members with sides of different inclinations may be provided.
