A device for clamping and centring circular or regular polygonal workpieces comprises at least two members 1<SP>1</SP>, 2<SP>1</SP>, movable relatively to each other, one of which has a prismatic clamping recess 3 extending symmetrically to the direction of movement of the member, while the other member has a clamping surface 8 extending perpendicular to the direction, each clamping member having a surface 14 engaging with a surface of the other member, and one clamping member being guided so as to be slidable along a surface 2<SP>1</SP> extending at an oblique angle to the direction. The sides of the recess 3 may have an included angle of 60, or more than 90, degrees.
