1,109,012. Clamps. PFAUDLER-WERKE A.G. 21 Jan., 1966 [27 Jan., 1965], No. 2973/ 66. Heading E2B. A screw clamp comprises two jaws 1, 2 each apertured to receive a bolt 3 having a nut 4 in screw thread engagement therewith for operating the clamp, the jaws being identical such that when the bolt is under tension, the jaws support each other, the one jaw provid- and each being formed with a shank laterally spaced from the bolt, the arrangement being ing lateral support for the shank of the other jaw so that the bolt is thereby free from binding stress; as shown, for each jaw the shank is offset from the central plane through the jaw and each shank is received in a groove in the other jaw.
