Abstract
873,072. Stress relieving. DEUTSCHE EDELSTAHLWERKE A.G., and ALLGEMEINE ELEKTRICITATS - GESELL - SCHAFT. Jan. 8, 1958 [Jan. 8, 1957], No. 776/58. Class 72 [Also in Group XI] Weld seams ir tubes with wall thicknesses greater than 35mm. are stress relieved by external induction heating together with internal radiation heating heat insulation being provided in both axial 1 and radial directions. Weld seam 1 is heated by coil 2 separated therefrom by insulation 3 and internally heated by radiating elements 4 which comprise a heating plate 5 occupying one third of the length of box 6, the remander of which is filled with a ceramic thermal and electrical insulating material. The elements 4 may adhere to the inside of the tube by magnetic means shown at 8 which may be of the type in which the adhesive power can be switched off. This apparatus may be used to normalize or anneal from 650‹- 900<SP>‹</SP>C. The voltage supplied to the heaters 4 is maintained constant, the heating process being controlled by varying the voltage supplied to induction heating coil 2.
