Abstract

Tubes etc, which are to be joined together by being subjected to controlled heating cycle. The tubes (A, B) and a connecting collar (C) are located by V-blocks (15, 16) mounted on a support frame (6) and clamped by upper jaws and screws (17, 18, 19). A tubular piece (9) passes through the support. A perforated heat spreader (13) passes under the tubes and forms vertical sides. The whole is surrounded by an envelope of flexible insulation (1, 2) with holes through which the tube passes. A hot air supply tube (10, 11) fits into the tube (9) and is connected to a hot air generator (12) consisting of an electrical heating element and a blower. A control box (22) with temperature and cycle time adjustments (24, 25) is used in conjunction with a temperature sensor (20).
