Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the heat loss of a furnace and to synergistically increase the agitation efficiency of glass by fixing a molybdenum cylinde to a ceramic pipe while enclosing the ceramic pipe to form a cylindrical electrode and by electrifying and heating molten glass. CONSTITUTION:A molybdenum cylinder 8 is fixed to a ceramic pipe 7 while enclosing the outside of the pipe 7 to form a cylindrical electrode A. An electrifying terminal 9 is attached to the outer part of the electrode A, that is, the cylinder 8, and the cylinder 8 connected to a power source through an electric wire 10 acts as an electrode. This electrode A is allowed to pierce the bottom 5 of a furnace through a refractory material 12, an a gas for bubbling is fed into the furnace through the pipe 7 to carry out bubbling. Simultoneously, molten glass is electrified and heated using the cylinder 8 as an electrode. The pipeing of the cylindrical electrode for bubbling causes no leak of electricity and is safe because the ceramic pipe is not electrically conductive.
