Abstract
872,902. Regulating. SCHAFER, G., and SCHAFER, O., [trading as KUGELFISCHER GEORG SCHAFER & CO.]. Feb. 6, 1959 [Feb. 7, 1958], No. 4218/59. Class 7(6). A fuel injection pump control rod 11 is controlled by a threedimensional cam 1, adjusted axially in accordance with engine speed, and throttle valve position, by a cam 2 operating a follower 1 and lever 27, and angularly by a member 24 adjusted in accordance with engine temperature and atmospheric pressure and temperature. The cam 2, Fig. 3, is moved axially by a pivoted arm 9 actuated from the throttle valve and is adjusted angularly by an engine-driven rotor 3 cooperating with a magnet 4 which produces a torque varying with engine speed which moves the cam against a coil spring 7. The cam 2 acts upon a lever 27 pivoted at 28 and acting to move the shaft 25 of the pump regulating cam 12 axially. The pivot 28 of the lever 27 is adjusted to increase the fuel supply at cold starting by a solenoid 30 in the engine starter circuit. Capsules 14, 15 responsive to air temperature and pressure act in series on the rack 24 to adjust the cam 12 angularly and a capsule 13 responsive to engine temperature adjusts a tapered member 18 between the capsules 14, 15. The cam 12 may control more than one pump regulating rod 11 and is provided with a separate cam surface for each rod 11.
