872,853. Piston rings. GOETZEWERKE FRIEDRICH GOETZE A.G. March 13, 1958 [April 18, 1957], No. 8163/58. Class 122 (1). In an expander and spacer spring 1 for a piston ring assembly including a pair of thin split rings 4, 5 and formed with radially extending sinuous windings, the radially inner windings have projections 6 for engaging the inner peripheries of the rings and pressing the rings radially outward and the edges of successive radially outer windings 2 have projections 3 that bear alternately on the rings 4 and 5 and press them axially. The sides of the springs are formed to provide oil passages 9 and 10. Specification 726,986 is referred to.
