868,942. Cooling cylinders; mounting engine accessories. PORSCHE, F. July 10, 1959 [July 19, 1958], No. 23753/59. Classes 7(2) and 7(4). An air-cooled engine 1, Fig. 1, has a blower 5, coaxial with its crank-shaft, and an engine accessory 18 e.g. a generator, driven by a pulley 12, Fig. 2, integral with a crank-shaft-driven rotor 6. A V-groove 15 may be pressed into the sheet metal cover 11 which is secured by welding to the rotor vanes 14. Cooling air is drawn through the centre of the cover 11 and supplied via spiral channels 7, 8 into the ducts 9, 10 which are arranged to circulate the cooling air vertically upwards around the individual cylinders. The accessory 18 may be pivotably mounted.
