Abstract

868,713. Window frames. BECKETT, LAYCOCK & WATKINSON Ltd. Sept. 10, 1957 [Sept. 14, 1956], No. 28207/56. Class 20(3) [Also in Group XXV] To form a hinge joint for a window or like panel, a frame member 10 in which the panel is mounted and which has arcuate portions 14 and 17, concentric about a point 15, on side walls 12, 11 respectively is combined with a channelsection rail 18 having internal arcuate surfaces 20a and 22 mating with the surfaces 14 and 17 to allow limited angular movement of the member 10 and removal of the member when the corner 26 passes the upper edge 25 of the wall 20 of the rail 18. The edge 25 also retains the member 10 against direct upward movement. An upper part 24 of the side wall 21 of the rail forms a condensation trough. As shown in Fig. 4 applied to a ventilator window, angular movement of the lower frame member is limited by side brackets 32 and the window is retained in the fully open position by a stop 33 behind which, under the influence of a spring 36, a projection 37 on a side rail 35 engages.
