868,053. Sawing. CALOW, T., [trading as CALOW & CO., Th.]. Aug. 1, 1957 [Aug. 1, 1956], No. 24447/57. Class 145. [Also in Group XXII] Rolled tube or bar 2 issuing from finishing machine 1 which peels or skims the tube or bar is cut into lengths by a cutting device e.g., a saw 11, mounted on a carriage 9 reciprocated axially of the tube or bar and carrying a clamp 10 which grips the tube or bar during cutting. The carriage 9 together with a reciprocating clamp preceding the finishing machine 1 provide a continuous feed. Alternatively the carriage 9 is moved forward by the bar 2. The carriage 9 supports a self-centring clamp 10 and a rotary saw 11 driven by an electric motor 16. The saw 11 is adjustable longitudinally of the carriage 9 by means of a handwheel 14, and this adjustment together with the adjustment of a stop 17 on the carriage 9.determines the length to be severed.
