Abstract

787,724. Sawing. MONATERI, G. March 29, 1956, No. 9906/56. Class 145. A band saw 12 is mounted on a verticallyadjustable framework 8 which also carries support brackets 20 for two adjustably-spaced circular saws 21 for trimming the edges of planks cut by the band saw from a log 6. The saw spacing is adjusted by a right-and-left handed screw shaft 23 which can be turned by a handle 33, the saws, after adjustment, being keyed to a groove in the shaft. The shaft 23 carrying the two saws may be replaced by a shaft carrying several circular saws spaced at appropriate fixed distances by spacer members in order to divide the planks longitudinally. A motor 16 drives the band saw and the circular saws are driven by a motor 27 through fast and loose pulleys 26. Log-gripping dogs 29 adjustable by a right- and left-handed screw shaft. 28 are provided on the log carriage 5.
