Abstract

1,024,564. Endless conveyers. G. L. MAYO. Jan. 15, 1963, No. 1799/63. Heading B8A. [Also in Division B5] Means for feeding work past the saws 1, 2, 3, 4 of a machine (Division B5) for sawing roof timbers consists of three conveyers 15, 17, 19. Conveyer 15 is fixed to the main frame 11 of the machine and comprises a chain 151, Fig. 4 (not shown), which carries dogs 165 and is driven by a sprocket rotated by a rectangularshaped shaft 169. The shaft also drives a lift wheel 153, which conveys the sawn work to a discharge guide 155 disposed above a channel member 35 of the frame 11, and the conveyer 17 which is substantially identical with the conveyer 15 but is movable longitudinally of the frame by a chain drive operated by a crank. Conveyer 19 is also substantially identical with conveyer 15 and is mounted on a carriage 13 supporting the saws 3, 4 for movement to an adjusted position along the frame. The shaft 169 which drives all three conveyers is rotated by a motor 175. The height of the conveyers is adjustable by inserts 191, Fig. 25 (not shown), having dowels 199 which engage holes in the upper surface of the members 161 over which the upper runs of the conveyers pass, the dowels extending from vertical members 193 disposed beneath runners 195 for the conveyers. Each insert has a handle 197.
