FIELD OF INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to the mechanical field. More specifically, the present invention is related to an integrated saw-machine used for sawing and re- sawing objects. BACKGROUND
[0002] Sawmills are used principally in woodworking, metalworking, and lumbering. Normally wood sawing is done in two machines. One is a horizontal band saw which cuts log horizontally along the length of the log. After this in another machine edges are removed and cut into required sizes and this process is called re-sawing.
[0003] In conventional re-sawing machine band saw is used and it is driven by an AC motor in the order of above 15 hp because motor power is utilized to run two heavy band wheels, large band blade, and heavy pulleys and shaft. Therefore, the conventional re-sawing machines are not energy efficient and also it takes more space for physical installations of two machines.
[0004] It is further clear that it is very difficult to shift wood under work from one machine to another. In such cases, huge manpower gets consumed along with time and cost.
[0005] Moreover, currently, in convention saw-machines, the machine operator has to account and custom the various parameters manually so the machine becomes very difficult to operate, the cutting speed of the tools are very high is also hazardous for operators during the course of operation.
[0006] Therefore, despite of the advancement offered by prior art, a need remains for further improvements. In view of aforementioned, it is required to provide an integrated saw-machine that can overcome the limitations and disadvantages of the prior arts.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS
[0026] The present invention will now be described in brief with reference to the accompanying drawings. Now, refer in more detail to the exemplary drawings for the purposes of illustrating non-limiting embodiments of the present invention.
[0027] The present invention relates to an integrated sawmill machinery. Referring to FIG. 1, an embodiment of present invention provides an integrated saw-machine (100) which includes a circular saw (1), a band saw blade (2), an hydraulic cylinder (3) for vertical movement of the clamping system, an hydraulic cylinder (4) for horizontal movement of the clamping system, arrows (5) to show movement of the clamp, guides (6) in the clamping system and vertical movement carriage (7).
[0028] In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, a light weight circular saw (1) is used. To drive this circular saw (1), motor with power rating in the order of less than 5 hp is only required. This saves about 40% energy as compared to conventional circular saw. Further, re-saw work instead of large, troublesome and dangerous band saw blade, a small compact trouble free circular saw is used.
[0029] In an embodiment of the present invention, the band saw (2) and circular saw (1) are mounted on the vertical carriage (7) at front and back. In the embodiment, vertical movement and horizontal movement along the log (13) of circular saw (1) will be together with the band saw blade (2) because they are mounted on the same carriage. The circular saw (1) which is adapted for re-sawing work can move across the log independently. Band saw and re-saw operations in the present invention are performed in such a way that first we have to cut wood vertically along its length up to the required depth at which band saw cuts using circular saw and repeat this for the entire width of the log as per required dimensions.
[0030] Referring to FIG. 2 and FIG. 3 in an embodiment of present invention an integrated saw-machine (100) further includes a motor (8) for the linear movement of circular saw, guide ways (9) for the movement circular saw, carriage (10) of circular saw with drive motor mounted on it, an extension support (11) for circular saw and a belt or chain (12) for the movement of circular saw assembly. [0031] The main carriage on which band saw and circular saw are mounted moves on rails mounted on the base of the frame. The horizontal movement (Forward and Backward) of the main carriage is driven by a 3phace AC motor which is controlled by a VFD (Variable Frequency Drive).
[0032] In an embodiment of the present invention, the another vertical carriage is placed on the main carriage for upward and downward movement for band saw and circular saw where band saw (horizontal cutting) is placed on front side of the vertical carriage and circular saw (vertical cutting) is placed on back side of the vertical carriage. The vertical carriage (7) moves upward and downward using a servo motor for precision movement.
[0033] The circular saw (1) is fixed on a carriage which is mounted on linear guide ways (9) to move transverse to the log. The movement of carriage on which circular saw (1) has mounted is controlled by a stepper motor or servo motor (8) for assigning measurements. In an embodiment of the present invention, the circular saw (1) is mounted in such a way that the lower tip of the circular saw blade is below the band saw level so as to avoid collision of band saw blade with the log while using circular saw (1). Circular saw can kept aside while band sawing.
[0034] In an embodiment of the present invention, sawing is done in this machine in such a way that, the circular saw (1) (vertical cutting) is first moved horizontally on its rail as per measurement and lowered to cutting depth. Then the main carriage is moved on the rails as in for band sawing to cut a slit (14) along the length of the log (13). This operation is repeated for all possible cuts. After that circular saw (1) is moved to the side band saw blade is lowered to the exact cutting depth and band sawing is done throughout the length of the log (13), and the finished wooden pieces are removed. The above said cutting technique is repeated till the wood gets finished. The log can be aligned with the circular saw by a hydraulically adjustable log clamp mounted on the frame of the machine.
[0035] In an embodiment of the present invention as depicted in FIG. 4, 5 and
FIG.6, the circular saw is moved to the side to avoid collision while band sawing is working. Then lower band saw to the cutting depth. The machine control system will do this using sensors and computer system. After this cut the log along its length horizontally using band saw. We have to remove band sawed, re-sawed wood from the machine and this method has to be repeated to finish the entire log. Further, as shown in FIG. 7, after finishing one cycle of operation wood pieces will be completely separated from the log. After this finished log pieces need be removed before repeating the same cutting procedure. This work is continued till the whole log finishes and circular saw cuts (15) and band saw cuts (16) are completed.
[0036] The major advantage of the present invention is considered by an integrated sawmill machinery which is capable of carrying out the process of band saw (horizontal cutting) and an automated circular saw (vertical cutting) in a single machine. The band saw cuts wood horizontally and circular saw cuts vertically to combine band saw re-saw works in single setup. All the operations which relates to the machine are controlled electronically.
[0037] The present invention is efficient as it saves more electricity because it eliminates the need of two different machines. In return, the noise pollution is also reduced up to 40%-50% and also fewer resources are required like raw materials, man-power, electricity, land space for machine installation and operation etc.
[0038] In the present invention, as the cutting technique is entirely different from the convention machines, band saw and re-saw are done under one machine so the cutting accuracy level of re-saw is comparatively higher and time-efficient. All operations of the machine are controlled from a control station.
[0039] In an embodiment of the present invention, the integrated saw-machine (100) is controlled accurately electronically by computer control. Due to this workers need not stand near to the cutting blades for holding the work and also for inspection. This avoids human hazards. Health problems caused to the workers by inhaling saw dust and also by getting into the eyes are being avoided. Further, the circular saw is less dangerous than band saw because it is less prone to break. With electronic control, worker can operate the saw-machine remotely.
[0040] Further, in an embodiment, the integrated saw-machine (100) is capable of finishing entire band saw re-saw work in single setup which saves time and man power. With the present invention, straightness of cutting ensured unlike conventional re saw methods which make the machine more accurate.
[0041] In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the integrated saw- machine includes a base frame, main carriage, a vertical carriage and a hydraulically operated horizontally and vertically movable clamping system. The base frame is mounted on a concrete floor using bolts. The main carriage on which band saw and circular saw are mounted moves on rails mounted on the base of the frame. Base frame consists of hydraulic log manipulating systems for log clamping, log rotation, log leveling, and also the mechanism to move main carriage forward and backward on rails which is controlled by a VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) powered 3 phase AC motor. The purpose of VFD is to vary the speed of the motor and also to change its direction of rotation. The main carriage is the main part of the machine on which main machine parts are mounted. The vertical carriage is mounted on the main carriage. Main carriage also consists of lifting mechanism for vertical carriage. Main carriage is mounted on wheels so it can freely move backward and forward on the rails mounted on the base frame.
[0042] The band saw and circular saw are mounted on the vertical carriage. The band saw is fitted at the front and circular saw is fitted at the back of the vertical carriage. The band saw part consists of band wheels, wheel driving motor, band blade, blade tension mechanism, blade holder mechanism and other corresponding parts. The hydraulically operated horizontally and vertically movable clamping systems are provided to align logs with irregular shape or logs with tapering dimensions.
[0043] In addition to the above mentioned example, various other modifications and alterations of the invention may be made without departing from the invention. Accordingly, the above disclosure is not to be considered as limiting and the appended claims are to be interpreted as encompassing the true spirit and the entire scope of the invention. As it will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art, the present invention may easily be produced in other specific forms without departing from its essential characteristics. The present embodiment is, therefore, to be considered as merely illustrative and not restrictive.
