Abstract

866,538. Dispensing liquids. UPJOHN CO. May 5, 1958 [May 6, 1957], No. 14303/58. Class 102(1). For delivering measured quantites of liquid particularly from a plastic squeeze bottle 1, a closure member 4 has a metering chamber 6 in which is slidable a piston 15 with a longitudinal passage 16 through its rod 14. On inverting the bottle, liquid flows into the chamber past downward-extending fingers 8 and, when the bottle is squeezed, the piston is driven into the chamber. As the piston enters the chamber, the end 18 of the passage 16 clears the top of the member 4 and the contents of the chamber are expelled. A protective cap 22 may have a threaded or friction fit on the member 4 and spacers 23 may be fitted to vary the volume of the chamber.
