Abstract

807,145. Reciprocating pumps; syringes. BECHER, H. March 12, 1957 [March 21, 1956 ; Aug. 17, 1956 ; Feb. 11, 1957], No. 8162/57. Classes 102(1) and 102(2). The plunger 6 of a pump mounted in a reservoir 1 is provided with a nozzle 7 adapted to be engaged by a nozzle 27 of a container 22 to be filled from the reservoir. The container 22 enters an opening 12 in a cap 10 and is used to actuate the plunger on its down stroke. Drain passages 16, 17 are provided in the cylinder 2 and cap 10. The container 22 may be provided with a rib to limit the stroke of the piston ; by inserting the container in a number of pumps the reservoirs of which contain different liquid a mixture containing a predetermined quantity of each liquid is obtained. In a modification, Fig. 2 the cylinder 2<SP>1</SP> is secured to a cap 10<SP>1</SP> and a bush 18 is slidable in the cylinder bore, bars 19, 20 engage and guide a cylindrical extension on a container insertable into the bush. The modified container shown in Fig. 8 is provided with a nozzle 38 for engagement with the pump nozzle and a piston 37 having a rod 39 extending through a sliding bush 40, the cylinder and bush having flanges 35, 41, respectively, engageable by the fingers so that by first pressing the rod 39 then the rod and bush together the contents of the cylinder are dispensed in two parts.
