Abstract

928,796. Reciprocating pumps; syringes. WELLA A.G. Dec. 14, 1960 [Dec. 23, 1959], No. 43017/60. Classes 102(1) and 102(2). The plunger 7 of a pump mounted in a reservoir 1 is provided with a nozzle comprising a lower cylindrical portion 3 slidable within the pump cylinder and a relatively long, conical upper portion 3a which projects out of the pump cylinder and is adapted to be engaged by a nozzle 4a on a container 4, e.g. a syringe, to be filled from the reservoir, whereby wetting of the external walls of container 4 by leakage liquid is prevented. The pump housing 5 is secured by a screwthread 5a to a closure cap 2 which has a conical extension 2a with internal guide strips 2b for supporting container 4. Drain slots 6b are provided in the top of housing 5 to drain leakage liquid into reservoir 1. The tip 4b of container nozzle 4a is internally conical and fits over the conical tip 3a of the plunger nozzle so that leakage liquid is directed downwardly. An abutment member 6a limits upward movement of the plunger and nozzle assembly .
