Abstract
1,096,654. Hypodermic syringes. NYEGAARD & CO. A.S. July 25, 1966 [Aug. 20, 1965], No. 35831/65. Heading A5R. An injection syringe, comprising a barrel part 1 closed by a piston 2, contains an injectable solution of high concentration and is provided around the piston (e.g. in annular grooves 8, 9) with a supply of a liquid which serves to dilute any solution leaking around the piston so as to prevent crystallization. The piston may be formed with a recess 10 into which is clipped the end of a piston rod 11, 12, and the barrel part may be provided with a pin 7 to pierce a membrane 4 and with a collar 5 on which is to be mounted the injection needle. The liquid around the piston may be contained in grooves in the wall of the barrel part 1 and instead of the membrane 4 the barrel part may be closed by a stopper or by a closed conical sealing tube. The syringe is said to be used for exemplified X-ray contrast liquids and the liquid around the piston may be water containing a wetting agent or a dilute solution of the injectable solution. The liquid may contain an exemplified preservative. The syringe may be provided within a sealed plastic or aluminium package also containing the liquid diluent.
