Abstract
787,090. Hypodermic syringes. BRITISH XYLONITE CO., Ltd., SENIOR, H., and TROTTER, P. A. June 6, 1956 [June 24, 1955], No. 18362/55. Class 81 (2). In order to avoid the use of a piston stopper in a syringe ampoule, the ampoule is made of flexible synthetic resin in cylindrical form and a neck 2 at one end is made of relatively greater rigidity than the rest of the end so that, when it is pressed downwards by the syringe plunger, it is pressed into the ampoule and the walls of the latter fold inwards to follow its downward movement. The ampoule may be placed in a syringe so that its lower end is initially pierced by the inner end of the needle or, if desired, the ampoule may be used merely as an external container from which a piston-type syringe is charged. In slightly modified forms the shoulders 6 are at right angles to the wall 3 or are directed downwardly towards the interior of the ampoule.
