Abstract

1,207,292. Bubble blower. R. HEIN. 23 Jan., 1969 [25 Jan., 1968], No. 3908/69. Heading A6S. A device for forming films of liquids, comprises a container, 1, for the liquid having an outer wall at least a portion of which is compressible, and an opening in the container receiving an elongated plunger member, 12, provided with an aperture, 17, at one of its ends. On application of a compressive force to the wall of the container liquid enters the cylinder 5 (which is of rectangular cross section), through the aperture 11 and thereby causes the piston 12, which loosely fits into the cylinder 5, to rise. The plunger member thereby emerges from the container, with a film of liquid across the aperture 17, available for 'blowing into bubbles. The rim 6, of the cylinder is joined to the collar 9, of the container forming a liquid tight seal between them. The space 23, collects liquid from the cylinder and wets the plunger on its emergence from the container. The container is filled with liquid through the orifice 21, which may be closed by the screw 22. When not in use the container is closed by a lid 4, the member 18 then preventing movement of the plunger. The annular portion 16, of the plunger is provided with capillary grooves 19 and 26, which serve to accommodate the liquid film. The stop 15, moving in the slot 14, limits the stroke of the piston. Also disclosed are grooves and lands 2 and 3, which improve grip properties, and the modification of the aperture member to represent the head of an animal.
