Abstract

800,138. Discharging receptacles by liquid pressure. LAPEYRE, J. M. Jan. 21, 1957, No. 2139/57. Class 102(2). [Also in Group XVII] An apparatus for discharging a filled collapsible tube 19 by liquid pressure comprises a container 10 for housing the tube 19 in a surrounding liquid, a resilient diaphragm 15 in one of the container walls adapted to be pressed inwardly by hand, and an adjoining hydraulic fluid reservoir 11 communicating with the container 10 through a check valve 14. On depressing the diaphragm 15 the check valve 14 closes and the resulting rise in pressure in the liquid in the container 10 acts on the tube 19 to extrude some of its contents through its nozzle 20. On releasing the pressure on the diaphragm 15 the check valve 14 opens to permit more liquid to enter the container 10. The nozzle 20 extends through an opening 18 in the container base and a gate cap 21 is secured on to it to secure the tube in position. The gate cap 21 has an orifice 23 normally closed by a swinging gate valve 24.
