905,969. Dispensing liquids by gaseous pressure. AMERICAN CAN CO. Jan. 9, 1961, No. 905/61. Class 102(2). A viscous substance 21 in the upper portion of a pressure can from which it is to be dispensed through a valve 14 is separated by a piston 25 from a propellant 23 charged into the lower portion through an opening 22. The piston is of less diameter e.g. by 0À01- 0À03 inches, than the inside diameter of the cam and a film of the viscous substance on the cam wall serves as a seal. The propellant is insoluble in the substance and inert e.g. nitrogen, argon or helium.
