Abstract

1,211,168. Compound containers. RICHARDSON-MERRELL S.p.A. 18 Nov., 1968 [17 Nov., 1967], No. 54639/68. Heading B8D. A bottle closure member includes a receptacle 8 for a substance which is to be delivered when desired into the bottle. A screw cap 2 clamps the receptacle and a sealing ring 4 against the bottle top and the receptacle comprises a rupturable wall 6 and a transparent deformable wall 5 which projects through an aperture 7 in the cap. If the receptacle contains a tablet, pressure on the wall 5 causes the tablet to rupture the wall 6; if the receptacle holds a powder or liquid a cylinder 11 is provided to transmit thrust to rupture the wall 6. The cylinder 11 has a flange 12 preventing it from falling into the bottle after operation, and notches 13 in the cylinder facilitate flow from the receptacle into the bottle.
