Abstract

863,992. Magnetrons. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Feb. 5, 1959 [Feb. 7, 1958], No. 4142/58. Class 39(1). The strapping between alternate vanes of a multi-cavity magnetron or a magnetron-type ultra-high frequency tube is capacitative. It is stated that this ensures that, for the fundamental mode, the group and phase velocities of the travelling-wave are in the same direction over a suitable frequency range. As shown, the strapping between alternate anode vanes 1, 3 is constituted by staggered segmental plates 13, 14 which are connected to the anodes vanes and are disposed on either side of a dielectric ring 11. The invention may be applied to travelling-wave amplifiers, oscillators and accelerators.
