Abstract

1366741 Klystrons THOMSON-CSF 15 Sept 1972 [16 Sept 1971] 43001/72 Heading H1D In a klystron for power amplification, operable over a wide frequency band B extending from F 1 to F 2 , and having a first set of cavities constituting a "pre amplifier section" followed by a second set constituting an "amplifier section", the amplifier section includes at least one cavity tuned to a frequency which is higher than F 2 and such that the klystron has maximum efficiency for an input signal lying in the upper half of the band B-i.e. curve ABC in Fig. 3-, and at least one harmonic cavity tuned to a frequency close to but less than 2F 1 , such as to increase the efficiency in the lower half of the band i.e. to curve DBC.
