Abstract
1394044 Klystrons THOMSON-CSF 25 June 1973 [27 June 1972] 30161/73 Heading H1D A frequency multiplying klystron includes an electron beam T which is converged from the cathode 101 towards a minimum cross-section p, and at least two gridless resonators, a first one, 111, nearer the cathode resonating at frequency # 1 , and the other, 112, being separated from the first by a drift space, being located adjacent the position of minimum beam cross-section, and resonating at frequency nf 1 , where n is an integer. As shown, the beam is converged by focusing electrode 105 and anode 102, and input and output waveguides 114, 116, respectively, are coupled to the two resonators. In modified arrangements, a third resonator (300, Fig. 4, not shown) tuned to a harmonic lying between f 1 and nf 1 is included between the first and second resonators; resonator 112 may be formed of two identical portions (120, 121, Fig. 6, not shown) coupled by an opening (123) in a common wall (122); and an oscillator is formed by the provision of a third resonator 200, Fig. 3, coupled to resonator 111.
