Abstract

870,703. Velocity modulated tubes. NIPPON ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Jan. 25, 1960 [Feb. 9, 1959], No. 2610/60. Class 39(1). A klystron oscillator has a "floating kidney" resonator 3, Fig. 1, operating at a fundamental frequency and an ouput resonator 10 having an energy extraction gap disposed between the gaps of the first resonator and operating at a harmonic frequency for generating mm waves. The fundamental and harmonic resonators are excited by the electron beam. The harmonic resonator is formed in the drift tube 8 and feeds energy to a waveguide 12 closed by a window 13. The resonators are operated under optimum bunching conditions. The collector has cooling fins 7.
