863,070. Discharging ampoules. AUTOPACK Ltd. Jan. 21, 1959 [Jan. 24, 1958], No. 2392/58. Class 78 (1). Ampoules are discharged one-by-one from hopper 50 on to the slots 43 of fixed plate 42 whence they are conveyed by walking beam conveyer 19, 20, and the movement of the conveyer is employed to produce several different movements in the hopper to facilitate the said discharge. The movement from beam 20 is transmitted to hopper 50 via rod 25 and arm 26. Arm 26 is pivoted at 27 to base-plate 1 of the hopper and resiliently locked thereto by pawl 28, also pivoted to base-plate 1. The hopper, therefore, pivots about 24, its stud 24 moving in the slot 23 of fixed support 2. This pivotal movement of the hopper causes an ampoule to be deposited in each slot 43 as the hopper swings. Agitation of ampoules.-The rocking movement of hopper 50 causes three other move. ments. Firstly, it pivots member 11 about pivot 14 to shake up the ampoules, member 11 being connected by pin-and-slot to fixed support 2. Secondly, it causes flange 5 of the hopper to engage fixed roller 17, the vibrations of the flange shaking the ampoules. Thirdly, serrated edge 37 of the hopper engages fixed roller 38 to cause additional vibration of the hopper. Hopper construction.-Hopper 50 has inclined base-plate 1 provided with upstanding flanges 5, 6 to present an open side, the discharge shoot 8 being adjustable at 41 for ampoules of differing sizes.
