Abstract

861,410. Pencil holders. FABER-CASTELL R. G VON, [trading as FABER-CASTELL, A. W. [Firm of]]. July 24, 1959 [Jan. 31, 1959], No. 25532/59. Addition to 861,118. Class 146(3). In a pencil holder as claimed in the parent Specification a tubular casing 4 is secured to the rear end of the front part 3 of the barrel and surrounds the part of the plunger 5 extending rearwards from the front part 3, the plunger 5 terminating in a knob 9 which projects from the rear end of the tubular casing. The plunger 5 is hollow and is secured at its forward end to the collet 1. The collet 1 grips a long piece' of lead 6 which extends rearwards into the plunger 5. A collar 5<SP>1</SP> on the plunger 5 serves as an abutment for a retracting spring 7. When the knob 9 is depressed the collet 1 relaxes its grip on the lead 6 which then slides downwards under the influence of gravity, until gripped again by the collet upon release of the knob. The parts 3, 4 may be of plastic, or part 3 may be of wood and the tubular casing 4 of a light metal, e.g. aluminium.
