Abstract

861,176. Valves. ROBERTSHAW-FULTON CONTROLS CO. Oct. 24, 1957 [Feb. 27, 1957], No. 33267/57. Class 135. In a fluid-pressure regulator comprising a casing having inlet and outlet passages 12, 14 therein intersected by a valve seat 26 which communicates with a chamber 32 formed in the valve bonnet 28, a valve member 46 is axially guided by the bonnet and is biased to the open position by a spring 58, and a diaphragm chamber 100 mounted on top of the bonnet communicates via a bore 108 with the outlet passage so that increased outlet pressure acting on a diaphragm 82 mounted therein which is connected to the end of the valve stem urges the valve member towards its seating against the action of the spring 58. The valve stem and chamber 32 are sealed by a cup-shaped member 122 with a central sleeve 124 which fits around the valve stem and a flange 126 which fits in a recess in the casing to form a seal with the bonnet. The tension of spring 58 may be adjusted by a number of screws 78 (one shown), and a screw 72 limits the maximum opening of the valve.
