Class 20(3) In a sliding sash window the single sash 1, Fig. 6, or telescopic unitary sash 1, Fig. 5 is capable of a horizontal movement by guidance. in a groove 3, or on a raised track, along the sill and upper member of the window frame concurrently with a movement across the vertical sides 2 of the window frame towards the interior and reversely, the sash being freed at a sash stopping device for bringing the external surface of the window to the interior for cleaning &c. As shown in Fig. 6 the sashes may, alternatively be moved straight across the facade of the building. The sashes, when in closed position are spring pressed against the window frame, and where no centre-post exists the meeting sides of the sashes fit each other with complementary convex and concave surfaces and these sides may be of transparent material. During movement along a vertical side 2, a sash may be supported on a carriage running on a bar projecting from the side 2.
