Abstract
856,283. Inductors. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. Aug. 6, 1958 [Aug. 6, 1957], No. 25201/58. Class 38 (2). A variable inductor includes two magnetic pot cores, the first, 3, in the form of a cylinder having an annular cavity, and the second, 4, in the form of two disc-shaped cheeks, the second core being located between two opposing bosses in the cavity of the first core, with an air gap, 7, between one cheek of the second core and the adjacent boss. A coil, 5, on the second core is controlled by a coil in the cavity of the first core. Alternatively the second core may be formed from the opposing bosses of the first core by forming a groove in them in which the coil to be controlled is inserted, the controlling coil being in the outer cavity as before (Fig. 2, not shown). The outer coil may be wound on the two outer tiers of a three-tier spool, 2, and the leads from the inner coil may pass through an aperture in the intermediate tier. In a modification the inner coil may be replaced by two or more separate coils.
