855,368. Centrifugal fans. WESTING- HOUSE ELECTRIC CORPORATION. Dec. 17, 1958 [Jan. 2, 1958], No. 40693/58. Class 110 (1). In a centrifugal fan similar to that described in Specification 841,164, in which the discharge pressure can be increased by discharging air or other gas from the interiors of backwardlycurved aerofoil impeller blades 12 through slots 33 adjacent the trailing ends of the blades, the slots are situated in peripheral faces 32, between the trailing ends of the driving faces 30 and suction faces 31 of the blades, the peripheral faces 32 being located adjacent the periphery of the impeller. The outlets of the slots 33 are substantially radial or within 30 degrees of the radial direction. A bulge 34 provides a constriction for increasing the velocity of the air.
