Classes 52(1) and 52(2) A vehicle seat with base plate A and shock absorbing means B has a base plate C for the seat bottom hinged at E to a back plate G for the seat back which has a convex projecting portion H to support the lumbar region, the top edge of plate G being suspended in a vertically disposed guiding arrangement F. In a modification the seat is mounted in a frame I which is movable fore and aft to allow adjustment of position with variation of inclination.
